Premium prize bonds

Premium prize bonds come in Rs 25,000 and Rs 40,000. Unlike bearer bonds, they are registered in the buyer's name.

How they differ from bearer bonds

  • Registered to your CNIC. A bearer bond belongs to whoever holds the paper. A premium bond belongs to the person it is registered to.
  • Paid to your bank account. Prize money and profit go straight into the bank account linked to the bond. There is no claim form.
  • Registered to you. A premium bond is not passed on by handing it over. Ownership changes only through National Savings paperwork (a transfer form under the scheme rules).

Draws

Each premium value has its own draw four times a year, usually on the 10th of March, June, September and December. See the schedule for dates and cities, and the results for Rs 25,000 premium and Rs 40,000 premium bonds.

Tax on prizes

The same rates apply as for bearer bonds: 15% of the prize if you are on the Active Taxpayer List, 30% if not. The tax is taken before the prize reaches your account. Tax calculator
